Cairngorm Mountain: Year-round adventures, from skiing to hiking, with stunning views. For walks in the cairngorm region check out the WalkHighlands website. If you do go into the mountains, please go prepared and check the mountain weather forecast before leaving!
Loch an Eilein: A tranquil loch with a historic island castle ruin, within the Rothiemurchus Estate. There are several walks in the area but the 7km walk around the loch is recommended (it is possible to shorten the walk to a 5km walk by missing out loch gamhna)
Rothiemurchus: Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts with hiking, wildlife, and fishing opportunities. Rothiemurchus also offers several outdoor activities for children and adults. For example treezone (climbing adults and kids), quad bike treks, clay shooting, hairy coo safari, feed the deer, bike hire, pony trekking and several more. Strathspey Steam Railway: Nostalgic steam train rides through scenic landscapes. For up to date timetables check here
Cairngorm Reindeer Centre: Meet free-ranging reindeer and learn about their lives. More information can be found here.
Highland Wildlife Park: Encounter a variety of animals, including polar bears and Scottish wildlife. Booking in advanced is recommended.
Aviemore Osprey Centre: Observe ospreys in their natural habitat. Please do check opening times before planning your visit.
Landmark Forest Adventure Park: Family-friendly outdoor activities and play areas in Carrbridge.
Loch Morlich: Relax by the loch, enjoy water sports, and soak in the views.
Glenmore Forest Park: Hiking trails and the stunning An Lochan Uaine.
Cairngorm Brewery: Brewery tours and tastings of crafted beers.
Cairngorms National Park Visitor Centre: Learn about park wildlife and conservation efforts.
Inverness: Inverness is the city nearest to Aviemore. Full with history and shopping opportunities it’s well worth a visit. Direct trains operate from Aviemore Station to Inverness Station (kids travel for £1 - tickets should be bought on the train or at the station desk). During the summer months a hop on and hop off bus runs in Inverness providing easy access to all the tourist sights around the city.
Go Karting: Do you feel the need for speed then visiting the Aviemore Kart Raceway is just what you need. Opening times and pricing information can be found here.
Bike hire. Aviemore is surrounded by a range of lovely cycle routes. If you want to explore the surroundings by bike, bike hire is available via Aviemore Bikes. Check their website for availibility and pricing.
